Introduction to Egyptian Sha'abi (a.k.a., folkloric Raqs Beladi or Raqs Masri or Raqs Sha'abi)
Ever wonder what village dance is? Now you can learn in this class devoted to the beautiful Egyptian Shaa'bi style of dance. In this short and sweet master class, students learn movements of Egyptian folkloric dance. Class includes body mechanics, warm ups and cool downs all designed to develop and strengthen the body in preparation for the class. This class is a prelude to the ongoing Monday night class focusing on Tahtib Shibbek (see other event). Class includes brief discussion of history and costuming and provides a break time.
