Join me for this exciting new and unique series of folkloric Egyptian dance classes and discover a new you! Created by legendary choreographer Mahmoud Reda, the Melaya Leff dances celebrate the woman of Alexandria. Performed with a wide square shawl (8’ x5’ or 10- 10.5’ X5) stretchy material, the graceful movements are framed and accented with the shawl’s movements.

Classes include movement combinations and mini choreographies plus warm ups and cool downs to develop and strengthen the body in preparation for class. Students also receive much individual attention in class. Cultural context of the dances, their origins and costuming are illuminated with discussion and links to film footage and/or photos.. Students of all ages and levels of ability are encouraged to take class.
