Based on the mystical, love poetry of 16th century Persian Sufi texts and traditional Persian figures adorning wall hangings, sculptures, miniatures, and other artificats, this dance style features hand gestures, graceful body movement, whirling, and more. Set to traditional music, choreographies illustrate the poetry of traditional lyrics to help students learn basic 6/8 time and to acquire foundational vocabulary and body movement. Choreography can be performed solo or in group. All women and of all levels of ability encouraged to attend. Please email for registration or go to donate page here to pay tution fees.
